ABOUT

Dr Damilola Oyejobi is a young and dynamic scholar with the primary place of assignment at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Ilorin, Nigeria from June 2008 till date. The various positions that I have served include lecturing, research and development, academic advisory, consultancy, examination office as well as thesis supervision. As a teacher, Dr Oyejobi uses modern educational technology and different class techniques in delivering his lectures and solving complex problems. To his credit, he has mentored many students and his mentees are doing very well in their chosen careers. Dr Oyejobi is currently a departmental Postgraduate coordinator, Undergraduate Final year Project coordinator, presently Departmental examination officer, academic adviser among other administrative responsibilities. He acted as a departmental chairman for NUC Accreditation committee in the year 2019 and was instrumental to the unfading success of first and second Departmental International Conferences held in the years 2009 and 2010 respectively.

Dr Damilola briefly worked with both consulting and construction companies before joining the services of University of Ilorin as a Lecturer. He was an Industrial Attachment student with Derilah Construction Company during the construction of present Osun State Secretariat Office Complex, Abere, Osun state in the year 2000. He worked as a Design Engineer with Shades Associates that worked on the proposed Mokwa College of Agriculture in the year 2006. He later joined the services of an expatriate company as a Quantity Surveyor: JDP Nigeria Limited that completed the abandoned projects of School of Agriculture, School of Environmental and School of Engineering buildings respectively in Gidan Kwano, Ninna, Niger State in the year 2007.

Since he joined University system, his work has primarily been on teaching, mentoring, research and community services. My research focus is on delivery of alternative building material which is green, affordable, eco-friendly and possesses better mechanical and durability properties over the traditional ones. Africa including Nigeria has teeming population that is faced with housing problems due to the low income and high prices of building materials. It is believed that by exploring waste products from the industries in the rural areas for concrete production, the costs of construction will be reduced and houses will be affordable. Besides, there will be economic value for these wastes, and control of pollution associated with the wastes rather than open dumping on the land and into rivers. My research goal is in line with the primary goal number eleven of Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs). Some of my experimental works on pozzolanic materials as well as application of numerical finite element software for civil engineering problems have been published and indexed in ISI, Scopus and University-based journals.

Also, I am a certified Engineer and member of American Society of Civil Engineers, ASCE, Graduate Member of Institution of Civil Engineers, UK, member, Nigerian Society of Engineers, and a registered Engineer with Council for Regulation of Engineering, Nigeria. In addition to this, I am skilled in the area of conception, analysis and design of simple and complex Civil engineering structures using software such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, STAAD. Pro, AUTOCAD, CIVIL 3D and ORION.
